THE HISTORY OF ELVIS PRESLEY

September 26th, 1956 - Elvis returned to hometown Tupelo to perform two shows at the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy.
October 3rd, 1945 - Elvis Presley appeared in a talent show at the age of 10 and won 2nd place and $5 . It was his first public appearance.
October 4th, 1960 - The Elvis Presley film "Flaming Star" is wrapped up.
October 5th, 1968 - Single "Almost In Love" hit #95 in the U.S.

October 6th 1974 - Elvis gave a matinee and an evening show in Dayton, OH. Parts of the matinee show were released on the"A Profile - The King On Stage Vol. 2"album. The evening show was used on the "Breathing Out Fire" album.

October 7th 1957 - RCA announced that they had already received a total of 500,000 advance orders for Elvis' Christmas album.

October 8th 1992 - U.S. Postal Service announced that the commemorative stamp booklet would include Elvis Presley.

October 9th 1965 -"Flaming Star And Summer Kisses" hit #11 in the U.K.

October 10th 1963 - Elvis recorded the vocal tracks for the "Kissin' Cousins" movie soundtrack.

October 11, 1957- Elvis Presley drove to Madison to confer with the Colonel Parker.

October 12th 1999 - "Elvis Day by Day" ( Peter Guralnick, Ernest Jorgensen)was released.

October 13th 1963 - Elvis traveled with film crew to the Big Bear resort in San Bernadino Mountains for location shooting of the movie "Kissin' Cousins." Shooting started the next day.

October 14th 1957 - "Jailhouse Rock" was released.

October 15th 1961 - Elvis recorded "Good Luck Charm"In Nashville.

October 16th 1956- Elvis' film "Love Me Tender" premiered.

October 17th 1957 - Elvis's film "Jailhouse Rock" premiered in Memphis.

October 18th 1967 - "Stay Away, Joe" filming began near Sedona, AZ.

October 19th 1968 - "A Little Less Conversation" hit #69 in the U.S.

October 20th 1960 - "G.I. Blues" premiered.

October 21st 1957 - "Jailhouse Rock" premiered.

October 22nd 1970- Elvis flew to Palm Springs, California for the weekend.

October 23rd 1961 - "Kid Galahad" filming began.

October 24th 1955- Elvis played the Newport,Ar Silvermoon Club.

October 25th 1960 - Elvis began his visit of Scotland.

October 26th 2005 - Lisa Marie's video "IDIOT" world premiere on Entertainment Tonight.

October 27th 1976 - Elvis' FINAL show of a 2 week tour at the southern Illinois UNIVERSITY Arena in Carbondale,Illinois. 48 hours later Elvis was recording at Graceland.

October 28th 1956 - Elvis' second time on the Ed Sullivan Show .

October 29th 1976- Continuation of recording at Graceland.

October 30th 1960 - Elvis began his first gospel music session. Most of the songs appeared on "His Hand In Mine" album (1961).

October 31st 1962 - "Girls! Girls! Girls!" film world premiere in Honolulu.

November 1st 1955 - Sam Phillips owner of Sun Records sold his contract with Elvis to RCA records for $35,000. It was the beginning of a new era for Elvis.

November 2nd 1962 - Elvis movie "Girls! Girls! Girls!" premiered.


November 3rd 1956- Love Me Tender took top spot on the Billboard chart, pushing his double sided hit "Don't Be Cruel" / "Hound Dog" in second position.

November 4th 1961 - Elvis begins filming Kid Galahad (his tenth movie), in Idyllwild, CA. An important snowstorm forces relocation to Hollywood on November 21st.

November 5th 1971 - "Elvis has left the building" was said for the first time (by announcer Al Dvorin) at the end of a concert in Minneapolis.

November 6th 1948 - The Presley family moved from Tupelo to Memphis.

November 7th 1991 - Graceland mansion, located at 3734, Elvis Presley Boulevard in Memphis was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

November 8th 1948 - Elvis begins eighth grade at Humes High School in Memphis, TN.

November 9th 1962 - Elvis completed his work on "It Happened at the World's Fair" movie and went to Las Vegas.

November 10th 1956 - Billboard's annual DJ's Poll finds Elvis as the most-played male artist and country artist.

November 11th 1971 - Elvis Presley performed at the Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio

November 12th 1972 - Elvis Presley did the first of two sold-out shows in San Bernardino. He stayed in San Bernardino for several days before the shows, renting the entire sixth floor of the east tower at the Hilton Hotel on Hospitality Lane. November 13th 1971 - Elvis performed in Dallas, TX.

November 14th 1960 -"It's Now Or Never" became the fastest-selling single in British history,780,000 copies in its first week.

November 15th 1956 - "Love Me Tender," premieres at the Paramount Theater in New York City.

November 16th 1963 - The compilation "Elvis' Gold Records" hit #3 in the U.S.

November 17th 1954 - Elvis played the Memphis Eagle's Nest.

November 18th 1967 - "You Don't Know Me" hit #44 in the U.S.

November 19th 1977 -"Elvis In Concert" hit #5 in the U.S.

November 20th 1955 - Elvis' contract with Sun Records was sold to RCA Records for $35,000(including all previously released and recorded material).

November 21st 1962 - Movie "Girls! Girls! Girls!" opened in the U.S.

November 22nd 1955 - Elvis' contract with Bob Neal expired.

November 24th 1956 - 2 shows at the Troy, OH. Hobart Arena

November 25th 1975 - Elvis borrowed $ 350,000 from the National Bank of Commerce in Memphis, putting up Graceland as a collateral. This was the result of his recent purchases of airplanes, cars, racquetball courts and jewelry as well as an enormous payroll that included almost everyone of his relatives.

December 2nd 1976 - December 2nd to 12th, Elvis plays the Hilton in Vegas for what turned out to be the last time.

December 3rd 1968 - 'Elvis' 68 Comeback Special aired on the NBC television network. Presley's informal jamming in front of a small audience is regarded as a forerunner of the "MTV Unplugged" concept that began in the 1989/1990.

December 4th, 1956 - A year after Elvis had left Sun for RCA, he droped at Sun Studio. The afternoon became a jam session with Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash(reportedly not heard on the tapes, while later he claimed to be included). December 5th, 1970 - George Klein ( Memphis Mafia ) marries Barbara Little in Elvis' International Hotel suite in Las Vegas.

December 8th 1955 - Elvis plays the Rialto Theater, Louisville, KY

December 9th, 1955 - Elvis performed twice on this day. First with Johnny Cash at the High School in Swifton, Arkansas and later in the evening at the B&I Club, Swifton, Arkansas.

December 10th, 1973 - Elvis recorded "It's Midnight" at Stax Records.

December 11th, 1961 -"Blue Hawaii," album goes #1 and stays #1 for 20 weeks.

January 3rd, 1956 - Elvis performed in Boonesville, MS.

January 4th, 1954 - Elvis returned to the Sun Records again and recorded “Casual Love Affair” and “I’ll Never Stand in Your Way.

January 5th, 1955 - Elvis performed at the City Auditorium of San Angelo, TX

January 6th, 1957 - Elvis makes his last of three appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show. After numerous complaints during his previous appearances, Ed Sullivan decides that Elvis has to be filmed from the waist up only.

January 7th, 1955 - Elvis plays Midland High School in Midland, Texas

January 8th, 1935- Elvis' Birthday!

January 9th, 1973- Elvis arrives in Hawaii and greets fans. The footage will later be used for the opening of the Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii television broadcast.
